I opened up the Usui Reiki Healing Master with more than a little scepticism.

Could a book really teach you and help you to attune to Reiki?

I was attuned to level one Reiki by a Reiki Master and I was wondering if there was any way you could compare having the presence of a teacher with reading a book (apart from the large difference in cost).

Actually, had I not already been attuned, the Usui Reiki Healing Master would have been a completely different (and loads cheaper) way of going about finding my own Reiki energy.  The author, Bruce Wilson, came to his direct method after years of frustration at not getting what he wanted from expensive courses with a Reiki Master.  His method stems from the fact that Reiki energy is already in all of us and that we don’t need external attunement from an expensive course to find it.  Follow his guidance and you will learn how to use the energies that are already within you.

The Usui Reiki Healing Master gives you a very comprehensive background into the meaning of Reiki, the history of Reiki, and all the different aspects and systems of Reiki practice, including reiki chakras, reiki power, healing hands exercises, attunement symbols and a whole section on giving Reiki to animals (which has to be the ultimate test of Reiki’s power as they won’t play by suggestion! – my dog certainly seems to benefit).

You’ll receive two hours of Reiki music, Level 1,2 and master level instructions and information, certificates and, really importantly, ongoing email support from the author, Bruce Wilson.

There is a lot to absorb and at first, you may wonder why the history and lineage of Reiki Masters is so important, but I think you will find this chapter really interesting and you will be able to choose who you work with if you want to find further teaching, when learning Reiki from a point of knowledge and real choice, rather than ignorance.  There are a lot of people out there offering to teach and work with you on Reiki and your knowledge and pertinent questions you will gain from studying the Usui Reiki Healing Master will really help you to make the right choice for you.

The Usui Reiki Healing Master doesn’t pretend to be all you will ever need to help you on your Reiki journey, but it gets you to a place where you have accessed your own Reiki power and you understand what you can do with it.  At the end, the author writes ‘I encourage you to find good training and practice once you receive the attunements – May this be of benefit.’  For the price and effort of reading it, I think all those who want to learn about Reiki or want to remind themselves of the power of Reiki (like myself), will feel they have an extremely useful and knowledgably written resource.
